Pharmaceutical Companies: Profiting from the Unhealthy

The greatest profit from disease comes in the treatment, not the prevention or the cure.

If a drug company found a cure or a preventable cause of a disease, how much profit would they see?

Why sell one pill that can cure a disease, when you can sell a lifetime supply designed only to treat it.  Forget about prevention.  If a pharmaceutical company actually discovered that avoiding a toxin could eradicate the disease altogether (diabetes for instance), what money could they make from that?

It is not in the pharmaceutical company’s best interest to make the public healthier.  Their profit structure is designed to benefit from a more diseased one.

Pharmaceutical companies are now some of the largest and most profitable multinational companies in the world.  They have become that way by being the largest drug pushers on the globe.  Our asthmatic and ADHD children are hooked on their products from the earliest ages.  Our elderly are pumped full of pills on a daily and nightly basis.

Industrial companies that fill our food and water supply with toxins are supporting the expansion and profiteering of the pharmaceutical companies.

More and more drug companies are involved in the creation of foods or substances that go directly into our food supply.  Monsanto Corporation has both a drug division that supplies growth hormones to livestock, and a branch that designs genetically modified foods for human consumption.  Pfizer and Novartis, two of the world’s largest pharmaceutical companies, also make drugs that are given to the livestock used in America’s food supply.  Ajinomoto, the largest producer of MSG for use in food, is now venturing into the drug making industry.

Pharmaceutical company profits soar when the world’s population grows increasingly unhealthy.

Considering that we are at our highest degree of medical knowledge, illnesses in the general population are at an all time high.  How can this be?  If the population of first century Europe was as sickly as ours is today, it is likely that the human race would have died out by the Middle Ages.

Will we make it to the next century?
