Angel's Purse, Inc.

Salutations,

The chart below shows the results from our pilot study of Sensory Learning and it's effectiveness as an intervention for children with disabilities. We have included children with autism, attention deficit/hyperactive disorder, learning disabilities, dyslexia and Asperger's in this study. As you can see from the chart below nearly all the children showed a reduction in symptoms as graded by their parent using the one page evaluation form designed by the Autism Research Institute's founder, Bernard Rimland, PhD.

Sensory Learning 2003

We are extremely pleased to report that we have additional facilitators of this method of sensory retraining in other parts of the country who are eager to join in our study and will be using the same method of gathering data to add to our pool of results. We hope to expand that number of data collectors to substantiate our results.

It is our belief that by documenting the efficacy of the therapy we can make a lasting contribution to the children who will be receiving therapies in the future. If you've been watching you'll have noticed that the number of children needing these services is rising at an alarming rate. The schools are being overwhelmed and so are the parents. Therapies that can help are at a premium and not everyone can afford them.

Here is where we come into the picture. Our mission is to provide practical assistance to the families of children with autism and other pervasive developmental delays. That means gifts of nutritional supplements and access to our lending library of videos from conferences and books about how to help recover their children. It means coming down to our place for the twelve days of Sensory Learning and consulting with another parent who has been down the same path. It also means the gift of information translated into Spanish, which has proved to be one of our most helpful programs. We have managed to keep this volunteer organization operating by the grace of God, and because of your generous donations during these past five years.

We are dangerously close to faltering due to a lack of donations this year, though. So I am writing to ask you to give again, please. This work must be continued. The children in the autism spectrum that we serve desperately need the services we provide and will not receive them otherwise.

Angel's Purse is keeping a large number of kids from falling through the cracks, we cannot afford to fail. I need your financial support to continue this vital work. Your donations are tax-deductible and so very gratefully accepted.

I wish I could say that this problem will go away given time, but it is actually a growing problem at this point. Other organizations are spending gazillions on research to find the causes. We are in the trenches supporting the parents as they scramble to find ways to help recover their children.

Be an angel today and send a check to Angel's Purse, Inc. and I will see to it that these children continue to receive the help they need.

My love to you,

Jenny Culver Hill
